The coronavirus – concerns and risk groups
Can I cancel due to concerns about the virus?
The fact that you feel concerned about taking a trip or attending an event is not sufficient grounds to entitle you to cancel. If you have a made a booking abroad for a date on which the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (Utrikesdepartementet, UD) does not advise against travel to your destination, it is your agreement with the tour operator that determines whether you have the right to cancel. Nevertheless, you can always contact the tour operator and ask if it is possible for you to cancel your booking. However, if your contract does not include a cancelation option, you cannot claim a refund.
Can I cancel because I am in a risk group?
If you belong to a risk group, you may have the right to cancel your package trip, and in such circumstances you may be eligible for a refund. The European Commission has stated its opinion on this matter. However, the right to cancelation has not been legally examined, and it is therefore possible that the tour operator will refuse to grant you a refund.
