New in Sweden: Be careful with telephone sales

If you have a telephone, you might receive calls from companies that want to sell you goods and services. This is called telephone sales (telefonförsäljning).

Never agree to an offer on the telephone unless you are completely certain about what you are buying.

If you accept an offer from a telephone salesperson, you will be bound by the terms of an agreement. You should, therefore, be careful if a telephone salesperson calls you. You are always free to say “no, thank you” and end the call.

A salesperson might also start to talk to you outside a shop or on the street. In this case, the same advice applies as for telephone sales – you can always say “no, thank you” and walk away.
